BIOGRAPHIES OF "MUSICAL FRIENDS"
Leonor Snow
(flute) plays Co-principal Flute in the Connecticut Valley Chamber Orchestra (CVCO) and Flute and Piccolo in the Farmington Valley Symphony Orchestra (FVSO). She founded Musical Friends in 1996. She performs in and around Hartford as well as teaches privately. Ms. Snow holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Flute Performance from Southern Methodist University, a Bachelor in Music in Music Management from the Hartt School of Music and an MBA in Marketing from the University of Hartford. She has studied with Greig Sherer, Claire Johnson, Mary Ellen Jacobs and Keith Underwood and performed in a master class for Julius Baker.
Virginia Church (flute) is an active freelance performer and teacher in the Hartford area. She is founder and director of Charter Oak Flutes. Currently she teaches privately and was a faculty member of Hartt School of Music’s Community Division for 12 years. She is Assistant Principal Flute in Farmington Valley Symphony Orchestra, Simsbury Light Opera Orchestra and the Connecticut Valley Chamber Orchestra. Ms. Church holds a Master of Music degree in Flute Performance from Boston University and a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Bucknell University. Her flute studies have been with Diane Gold, Phillip Kaplan and Eleanor Lawrence as well as master classes with Frances Blaisdell and Trevor Wye.
Richard Kandetzki (bassoon) plays principal bassoon in the Connecticut Valley Chamber Orchestra and Principal Bassoon in the West Hartford Symphony Orchestra. He is a founding member of the Blackledge Woodwind Quintet. Mr. Kandetzki received a Bachelor of Music degree in bassoon performance from the New England Conservatory of Music where he studied with Richard Plaster and Sherman Walt of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Other bassoon studies have been with Joyce Kelly and John Miller. Mr. Kandetzki has played with symphony orchestras in Stamford, Norwalk, Greenwich and Ridgefield, Connecticut as well as the State Symphony of São Paulo, Brazil.
